Referrals Redirection URL

This is the page friends are taken to when they click a referral link. It should be a page that explains your referral offer and prompts them to make a purchase.

Field

What It Does

Notes

Referrals Landing URL Domain

Your store domain: pre-filled automatically.

Referrals Landing URL Path

The path of the specific page within your store to send referral traffic to.

e.g. /pages/referral - leave blank to use the homepage

✅ Tip

Create a dedicated referral landing page on your store with the campaign embed block on it. This gives referred friends a clear, focused page to land on and increases conversion compared to sending them to the homepage.

ℹ️ Note

If you leave the URL Path blank, referred friends will be sent to your store homepage by default.

Social Sharing Settings

Controls which social platforms customers can use to share their referral link. Each enabled platform shows as a sharing button in the referral flow.

Field

What It Does

Notes

X / Twitter

Enables sharing via X. Includes a customisable tweet message field.

Check the box to enable. Enter your custom tweet text in the Message to tweet field.

Message to tweet

The pre-filled tweet text customers see when sharing via X.

e.g. "Check out [Brand] and claim a free gift!" — the referral link is appended automatically

Facebook

Enables sharing via Facebook.

Check to enable

WhatsApp

Enables sharing via WhatsApp.

Check to enable

SMS

Enables sharing via SMS (mobile only).

Check to enable

✅ Tip

Enable at least X/Twitter, Facebook, and WhatsApp. These are the highest-volume sharing platforms for referral programs. Email and SMS are valuable for customers who prefer direct sharing.

Fraud Prevention

Two optional rules to protect your referral program from being abused.

Field

What It Does

Notes

Block email aliases

Prevents referral claims using email variations with + aliases, e.g. [email protected] is treated as [email protected] and blocked if [email protected] has already claimed.

Recommended - on

Block self-referrals

Prevents advocates from referring themselves using the same or a similar email address.

Recommended - on

✅ Tip

Enable both fraud prevention settings for all stores. They have no impact on legitimate referrals and protect your program from the most common abuse patterns.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

⚠️ Common Mistake

Not setting a Referrals Landing URL Path: leaving this blank sends referred friends to your homepage, which may not have the campaign block or any referral context. Create a dedicated landing page and set the path.

⚠️ Common Mistake

Disabling fraud prevention: even small stores can be targeted by customers gaming the referral system. Both fraud prevention settings should be on by default.
