The reward must be saved before you can add an image. If you have not set up your rewards yet, see: Configuring a Basic Referral Reward.
You can upload your own image for each Basic Referrals reward. It is a simple way to make a reward feel more on-brand.
The image is added from a card on the right of the reward page. The card is called Reward Icon for discount and free shipping rewards, and Reward Image for free product rewards.
How to Add a Custom Image
Open Mage Loyalty > Referrals, then click Basic Referrals in the Referrals menu on the left.
Click Edit next to the reward you want to update.
In the Reward Icon (or Reward Image) card on the right, click the upload area under Custom icon (or Custom image), or drag your file onto it.
Choose your image file. A preview appears once it has uploaded.
Click Save in the bar at the top of the page.
The card only appears on a reward that has already been saved. If you have just created a reward, go back to Basic Referrals and click Edit on it.
Image Guidelines
Guideline | Recommendation |
File types | JPEG, PNG, WEBP or SVG. |
File size | Up to 5MB. Smaller files load faster for your customers, so aim for well under 1MB. |
Shape | Square images work best. The image is shown in full inside a small box, so very tall or very wide images will look small. |
Resolution | At least 600px wide, so the image stays sharp. |
Use a branded graphic, product shot or lifestyle photo that makes the reward feel real and worth sharing.
Free Product Rewards
For a Free Product reward, the Reward Image card shows your product's own photo by default. Upload a custom image only if you want something other than the product photo. Your custom image then replaces the product photo in the customer's list of rewards in the Rewards Widget.
Replacing or Removing the Image
Once an image has been added, the card shows it with two buttons:

Replace | Choose a new file to use instead. |
Remove | Removes the custom image. Discount and free shipping rewards go back to the standard coupon icon, and free product rewards go back to the product photo. |
Click Save in the bar at the top of the page after replacing or removing an image.
Changing the Look of All Your Reward Icons
If you would rather restyle the standard coupon icon than upload an image, click Edit design on the preview in the Reward Icon card. This opens the Icon Designer, where you can change the look of the coupon icon for all of your rewards at once.
Edit design needs the Starter plan or above. It is only shown for discount and free shipping rewards that do not have a custom image.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
Forgetting to click Save after uploading. The image is not kept on the reward until you click Save in the bar at the top of the page.
Uploading a very large image. Big files are slow to load for your customers. Compress images before uploading and aim for well under 1MB.
Using a very tall or very wide image. It will look small in the preview box. Crop it to a square first.
Troubleshooting
I cannot find the Reward Icon card
The card only shows on a saved reward. Go to Referrals > Basic Referrals and click Edit on the reward.
My image will not upload
Check the file is a JPEG, PNG, WEBP or SVG. Other file types show the message "That file type isn't supported".
Check the file is under 5MB.
The Edit design button is missing
The button is hidden while the reward has a custom image. Click Remove to see it again.
It is not shown for free product rewards.
It needs the Starter plan or above.
