Adding the Flexible Redemption Block to Checkout

The Flexible Redemption block lets customers redeem any amount of points (within a range you set) for a discount at checkout.

Prerequisites

  1. A flexible amount reward must be configured first. The block won't appear until you have an active flexible reward. Learn how to set one up.

How to Add the Block

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Checkout

  2. Under your checkout profile, click Customize

  3. In the checkout editor, click Add an app block in the section where you want the block to appear

  4. Select Checkout Flexible Redemption from the list

  5. Move the block to the position you want

  6. Click Save

The block now appears on the checkout page for logged-in customers who have enough points to redeem.

Shop Pay Compatibility (Recommended)

To show the Flexible Redemption block in Shop Pay's accelerated checkout:

  1. In the checkout editor, click on the Checkout Flexible Redemption block you added

  2. Click Checkout behavior

  3. Check the box that says Include app block in Shop Pay

  4. Click Preview Shop Pay to test the experience

  5. Click Save

If you skip this step, customers on Shop Pay's accelerated checkout won't see the block.

FAQ

Can customers redeem their full points balance?

They can redeem any amount between the minimum and maximum you set on the reward, up to their available balance.

The block shows on regular checkout but not on Shop Pay. Why?

Enable Include app block in Shop Pay in the block's Checkout behavior settings via the theme editor. See the Shop Pay Compatibility section above.

The block isn't showing on my checkout. Why?

Ensure you have configured an active flexible reward (see Prerequisites)

The block shows on desktop but not on mobile. Why?

This usually means the block was placed in the order summary section of your checkout.

On desktop, the order summary is always visible as a sidebar. On mobile, it collapses into the Show order summary dropdown at the top of the page, so any block inside it stays hidden until the customer taps to expand it.

To confirm, open your checkout on a phone and tap Show order summary. If the block appears there, this is the cause.

To fix it, go back to Settings > Checkout > Customize and drag the Checkout Flexible Redemption block out of the order summary and into the main checkout column, for example near the delivery or payment sections. Then click Save. The block will then be visible on both desktop and mobile.
