Referral campaigns require Growth Plan or above.
How Referrals Work
Every customer who participates in your referral program receives a unique referral link. When they share it and a friend makes a purchase, the referral is tracked automatically.
Step 1: The advocate (existing customer) shares their unique referral link via email, social, or copy-paste
Step 2: The friend clicks the link and is taken to your store (or a specific landing page you configure)
Step 3: The friend signs up or makes a purchase
Step 4: Both the advocate and the friend receive their configured reward
ℹ️ Note
Rewards are issued automatically once the referral converts. You can configure what counts as a conversion: sign-up, purchase, or both, within each campaign.
Referrals Structure
The Referrals section in Mage Loyalty has three sub-sections:
Referral Campaigns: create and manage individual referral programs, each with their own rewards, design, and settings
Widget Referrals: a simpler referral setup surfaced directly in the Rewards Widget, with a referred friend reward and a referring customer reward
Settings: global referral settings: landing URL, social sharing platforms, and fraud prevention
ℹ️ Note
Referral Campaigns and Widget Referrals are independent. You can run both at the same time, or use only one depending on your needs.
