Customize Your Flexible Redemption Section

How to set up and customize the Flexible Redemption section on your Mage Loyalty landing page, where customers use a slider to exchange points for a discount code.

Customize Your Flexible Redemption Section

The Flexible Redemption section adds a slider to your loyalty landing page. Customers drag the slider to choose how many points they want to spend, see the matching discount value update live, and then redeem those points for a discount code to use at checkout.

To find it, open your Mage Loyalty admin, go to the Loyalty Page editor, open the Landing Page, and select the Flexible Redemption section from the Sections list on the left.

Before you start: set up a flexible reward

This section relies on a reward that customers can redeem for a flexible amount. If you have not created one yet, the editor shows a warning that reads No active flexible reward found, along with a Create reward button.

  1. Create the reward. Create a Fixed reward and choose the Flexible amount redemption type. You can use the Create reward button in the warning to jump straight there.

  2. Check the conversion rate. Once an active flexible reward exists, the editor shows an information banner with your configured rate, for example 1 point = $1.00. This rate, along with the minimum, maximum, and step amounts on the slider, comes from the reward itself, not from this section.

If no active flexible reward is set up, the slider will not work on your storefront, so it is worth confirming this first.

Editing the section

The fields below appear in the order they show on screen. Edit any of them, then save (see the last section for how to save and go live).

Text and labels

Field

What it does

Title

The heading shown at the top of the section. Example default: Exchange Points.

Subtitle

A short line under the title. Leave it blank to hide it completely.

Balance message

The line that tells the customer how many points they have. Use the {points} token where you want their balance to appear, for example You have {points} points available.

Redeem button label

The text on the main button customers press to redeem, for example Redeem.

Logged-out customers

Field

What it does

Hide block for logged-out customers

A checkbox that is turned on by default. When on, the section only shows to logged-in customers. Turn it off if you want visitors who are not logged in to see it too.

Signed-out message

This field only appears when Hide block for logged-out customers is turned off. It is the message shown to customers who are not logged in, for example Log in to redeem your points.

Reward message

Field

What it does

No reward available message

Shown to logged-in customers when no active flexible reward is set up, for example No flexible reward is available right now.

Apply to subscription (optional)

Below a divider you will find an option that lets customers apply their discount to an active subscription instead of copying a code.

Field

What it does

Show 'Apply to subscription' button

A checkbox, turned off by default. When on, customers with an active subscription can choose to have the discount applied automatically to their next order.

Apply to subscription button label

Appears only when the checkbox above is on. The text on the subscription button, for example Apply to subscription.

Please note, the subscription button only shows on your storefront when a subscription app is connected to your store and your flexible reward is set to allow subscription orders. If those conditions are not met, customers simply see the standard redeem button.

How the slider looks and behaves

On the storefront, customers see their points balance, a slider, and the discount value updating as they move it. A couple of things are worth knowing.

  • The slider range comes from your reward. The lowest and highest points a customer can spend, the step size, and the points-to-value conversion are all taken from your flexible reward settings, not from this section.

  • Colors are set in the theme editor. The slider colors, button colors, and text colors are controlled in the Shopify Theme Editor, not in this section. Use the Customise page in Shopify Theme Editor button at the top right of the Landing Page editor to adjust them.

Saving and going live

As soon as you change a field, a save bar appears at the top of the screen with Save and Discard options. There is also a Save button at the bottom of the section.

  1. Save your changes. Click Save in the save bar or at the bottom of the section. A confirmation message appears once your content is saved.

  2. Discard if needed. If you change your mind, click Discard in the save bar to return the fields to the last saved version.

  3. Make sure the block is on your page. For customers to see the section, the Flexible Redemption block needs to be added to your loyalty page. Use Customise page in Shopify Theme Editor at the top right of the Landing Page editor to add the block and position it where you want.

Once the reward is active, your content is saved, and the block is on the page, customers can start exchanging points for discounts right from your loyalty landing page.
